At this morning's Awards Assembly, we were overjoyed to present Grade 12 learner, Mikaya Naidoo, with her Gold Badge Award.
Words from Principal, Mrs Farquharson's speech:
"According to Aristotle, excellence is 'arete' or virtue – an outstanding fitness for the purpose and a well lived life.
This young lady strives for excellence in all her endeavours. Her actions are specific and she is fired by determination; her actions are driven by purpose and the driving force of passion.
She has excelled in all fields of our holistic establishment in culture, sport and academics.
She has represented the KZN Debating team for two consecutive years, receiving Honours for this achievement, and will be representing KZN at a National Debating Competition in December.
Over the recent school holidays she represented the KZN Inland U19 Soccer team at a tournament hosted in Gauteng, for which she holds Full Colours.
During her Grade 11 year she received Academic Honours at our annual prizegiving.
We are incredibly proud of you, Mikaya!"
The Gold Badge Award, first awarded in 1993, is presented to a learner who has achieved Full Colours or Honours in all three disciplines: Culture, Sports and Academics. The recipient is presented with a white blazer with a gold badge on the pocket.
