Posh, passionate and playful is how this show is described
Fo r this elegant evening, Barbie Meyer, teams up with her partner in piano-cr ime, Jonathan Brauteseth.
Hailing from opposite ends of the coastline , Barbie & Jonathan have become something of an institution in the musi c and performance industry around the country. They have been performing to gether for many years in intimate venues countrywide and form a formidable, hilarious and unique pair.
Totally at ease with each other other’s q uirks they pair up to offer both haunting and playful duets. This is inters persed with entertaining bits of information about the ridiculousness of hu manity seen through their eyes, each other and the lyrics they perform. Bar bie & Jonathan appear to have the perfect recipe for performing heart f elt lyrics whilst simultaneously providing improvised stand-up comedy with a dash of poetry between songs. These are two very different personalities with an enchanting connection.
Barbie is an actress yet admits that h er first love is singing. This is immediately evident in the power and pass ion with which she delivers their perfectly chosen songs. Her voice togethe r with Jonathan’s deep, gravelly tones has been described as ‘pouring doubl e thick cream over rather roughly chopped mango’.
So don a pair of po sh heels, slip on a crisp shirt and don’t miss out on an intimate evening o f classy musical entertainment. The Spot Bistro will be open before the Sho w if you would like to have a bite to eat. All are welcome to bring you own drinks & glasses - ’preferably crystal’, Barbie says.
